Permits Required
Manheim Township requires several permits and applications for certain activities on Township streets and right-of-way:
Right-of-Way Occupancy Permit
A Right-of-Way Occupancy permit is required if you are planning to do any type of work in all public right-of-way. A permit form is available by clicking on the Right-of-Way Occupancy permit link or at the Municipal Office for your completion. In addition to the permit form, a drawing of the work being performed, and a $50.00 permit fee is required. It usually takes only a day or so to issue the permit. Tree Removal Permit
A Tree Removal permit is required for anyone who is interested in removing a tree located in the public right-of-way. Only trees in decline or decay are allowed to be removed. The applicant must complete a permit which is available by clicking on the Tree Removal permit link or at the Municipal Office. There is no fee for the permit. Street Closure
A Street Closure Application is required for anyone who wishes to close a street for tree removal, construction, or any event other than a Block Party. The applicant must complete an application for review at least 30 days prior to the planned closure. All applications must include a Traffic Control Plan showing all closed streets, detours and traffic control figures. Applicants are responsible for the following during the time of the road closure:
- Provide and post signage indicating detour route and street closure
- Notification to all properties within the affected closure area at least one week prior to closure
- Submit to the Township a certificate of liability insurance form naming the Township of Manheim, 1840 Municipal Drive, Lancaster PA 17601 as additionally insured prior to the event.
