LANCASTER, Penna. (May 18th, 2021) – Manheim Township Public Library is teaming up with Penn Cinema (541 Airport Road, Lititz PA 17543), to host a special family-friendly drive-in movie fundraiser to support the Library’s mission as a gathering place where curious minds are nurtured and transformed.
On Friday, May 21st, Penn Cinema will be showcasing Roald Dahl’s book, “Matilda,” with the big screen adaptation and children’s classic starring Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman.
The film centers around a gifted young girl named Matilda Wormwood, who is quite misunderstood by her parents, her brother, and her evil school principal. However, when she realizes she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to turn the tables and stand up and outsmart her parents and school principal. The film explores themes of youthful independence and personal identity.
“With so many fundraising challenges throughout the pandemic, we are excited to come together to safely raise funds for the Library and celebrate one of our favorite literary characters, Matilda,” said Rennae Newman, grant writer and fundraiser at Manheim Township Public Library.
Ticket prices are $30 per vehicle, with admission for as many guests as there are seatbelts in the vehicle. Guests can enjoy the big screen from the comforts of their vehicle, with audio provided through FM radio and tuning to 89.9FM. “Matilda” is scheduled to begin at sunset, around 8:45 pm, and the parking lot opens 1 hour early.
