Manheim Township, the only First Class Township in Lancaster County, occupies 23.4 square miles and is located in the center of Lancaster County bordering the City of Lancaster to the north. The developed areas of the Township are predominantly residential, with industrial and commercial activity prevalent near the City of Lancaster, and agriculture dominating the northern section of the Township. The Township is completely zoned and most of its developed areas are provided with municipal water and sewer services. The estimated population in 1999 is 33,000.

Police Department
Police officers are required to take a civil service test. For information about when the test will be given, contact the Police Department, and they will put you on a list for notification for the civil service test. Manheim Township is not currently accepting applications for the position of police officer. A civil service test was last given on October 10, 2009. That test is valid for one year from the date of the test

Public Works Department
The Public Works/Parks Department, during the summer, hires part-time people for roadwork, park and pool maintenance. The department can be reached at the Township office, 1840 Municipal Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily, or by email to the Public Works Department.
