The installation of monitored smoke alarms, or those that transmit signal(s) off-premise to a central station, are to be installed after first obtaining a Residential Fire Alarm Installation Permit.

Only licensed fire alarm contractors with valid Manheim Township Fire Alarm Company license can install monitored fire alarm systems. Our office can provide you with an updated listing of licensed fire alarm contactors.
- Electrical Permit Required: An over-the-counter Electrical Permit is required when 110-volt hard wired smoke alarm(s) are installed. All new wiring and circuit(s) are subject to field inspection and approval by Manheim Township upon completion of the electrical work.
